Submitting a Paper
SEC takes a broad view of edge computing and solicits contributions from many fields of systems practice that embrace any aspect of edge computing.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- communication infrastructure (e.g., cellular, satellite, LoRa) for edge computing
- distributed ledger technology (DLT) & blockchain at the edge
- socio-economic aspects of edge computing
- edge computing as an enabler of 5G applications and services
- edge computing infrastructure (e.g., IoT hubs) and its sustainability
- emerging applications at the edge, such as the metaverse, smart environments, and remote sensing
- the role of edge computing in sustainable computing
- interfaces between edge, cloud, and HPC systems
- geo-distributed analytics and indexing on edge nodes
- hardware architectures for edge computing and devices
- monitoring, measurements, management, and diagnosis in edge computing
- networking, e.g., from clients to the edge, and from the edge to the cloud
- programming models and toolkits
- resource management, scalability, and reliability for edge computing
- security and privacy issues
- storage and data management technologies for edge computing
- techniques and algorithms for machine learning, federated learning, and AI at the edge
- edge AI technologies (e.g., copilots, language models, and foundation models) in developing, optimizing, and generalizing edge systems and their configurations
- edge-enabled applications, such as in vehicular, enterprise, and manufacturing systems
Submissions that include systems implementation and their performance evaluation are particularly encouraged.
The review process will be double-blind. Papers will be judged on novelty, significance, clarity, relevance, and correctness. A best paper award will be presented to one or more outstanding papers from the conference. We also welcome short Position Papers on any of the above topics, which will be judged separately from papers in the research track of the conference. By submitting a paper, you agree that at least one of the authors will attend the conference to present it. Papers must be in PDF format and must be submitted through:
https://sec25.hotcrp.com/. No email submissions will be accepted.
Submission Instructions
Submitted papers must be no longer than 12 single-spaced 8.5" x 11" pages, including figures and tables, but excluding references, and using 10-point type on 11-point (single-spaced) leading, two-column format, Times Roman, or a similar font, within a text block 6.5" wide x 9" deep. IEEE Standard template for Latex and Word meet these specifications and can be found at: https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html.
Accepted papers will be allowed two additional pages in the proceedings. Papers not meeting these criteria will be rejected without review, and no deadline extensions will be granted for reformatting. Pages should be numbered, and figures and tables should be legible in black and white, without requiring magnification.
Reviewing will be double-blind. Authors must make a good faith effort to keep their submissions anonymous, and they should not identify themselves either explicitly or by implication; for example, cite prior work as though it belongs to a third party. Submissions violating the detailed formatting and anonymization rules will not be considered for review. If you are uncertain about how to anonymize your submission, please contact the program chairs well in advance of the submission deadline.
Papers must be in PDF format and must be submitted via HotCRP. Papers will receive reviews, after which papers will either proceed to a second round of reviewing or be immediately rejected. Manuscripts that are reviewed in the second round will then have their reviews made available so that authors may provide brief responses. The dates for the early rejection and rebuttal periods are indicated in the table.
By submitting your article to an ACM Publication, you are hereby acknowledging that you and your co-authors are subject to all ACM Publications Policies, including ACM's new Publications Policy on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects. Alleged violations of this policy or any ACM Publications Policy will be investigated by ACM and may result in a full retraction of your paper, in addition to other potential penalties, as per ACM Publications Policy.
Please ensure that you and your co-authors obtain an ORCID ID, so you can complete the publishing process for your accepted paper. ACM has been involved in ORCID from the start and we have recently made a commitment to collect ORCID IDs from all of our published authors. We are committed to improve author discoverability, ensure proper attribution and contribute to ongoing community efforts around name normalization; your ORCID ID will help in these efforts.
Reviewing Process with One-shot Revision
SEC’25 has one submission deadline. Each paper will go through the same rigorous reviewing process as in previous SEC conferences. The review decisions will be one of the following:
Accept: Papers in this category will be accepted for publication in the proceedings and presentation at the conference, possibly after making minor changes with the oversight of a shepherd.
One-shot Revision: Papers in this category will be asked to revise the paper based on the reviews and resubmit the paper for a final decision. Only those resubmitted papers that adequately address reviewer concerns will be accepted for publication.
Reject: Papers in this category are declined for inclusion in the conference.
