The 1st International Workshop on Immersive Computing at the Edge (ImmerEdge), in conjunction with ACM SEC 2025, Washington, D.C., USA , [December 6, 2025]
The 1st ImmerEdge Workshop invites high-quality research submissions on immersive computing at the edge, focusing on the design, deployment, and evaluation of immersive systems powered by edge intelligence. As immersive applications such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) demand ultra-low latency, high bandwidth, and personalized experiences, edge computing emerges as a critical enabler. We seek original papers that explore challenges and innovations in distributed computing, real-time rendering, sensor fusion, multi-user coordination, and AI inference at the edge. Contributions that address system-level optimizations, cross-layer co-design, privacy-preserving architectures, or applications in areas like telepresence, education, digital twins, and smart environments are especially encouraged. Join us in shaping the future of immersive systems at the edge.
Topics of interests
-
We solicit novel research contributions to the broad area of immersive edge computing, such as (but not limited to):
- System architectures for immersive edge computing
- Real-time AR/VR/MR rendering offloaded to edge/cloud nodes
- Edge-assisted multi-user synchronization and shared state management
- Network optimizations for low-latency immersive applications (e.g., 5G/6G, WiFi 7)
- Resource-aware scheduling and task migration for immersive workloads
- Distributed AI/ML for perception, interaction, and prediction at the edge
- Privacy and security in immersive edge environments
- Data compression and streaming techniques for volumetric and multi-modal content
- Edge-enabled digital twins and immersive simulations
- Energy-efficient edge computing for wearable and mobile XR devices
- Federated learning and personalization in immersive edge systems
- Benchmarking platforms and testbeds for immersive edge applications
- Case studies in smart cities, healthcare, education, industrial AR/VR, and remote collaboration
- Cross-device and cross-network coordination for immersive experiences
Only electronic submissions in PDF will be accepted. Submitted papers must be written in English and must be rendered without error using standard PDF viewing tools. Submitted papers must be no longer than 6 single-spaced 8.5'' x 11''; pages, including figures and tables, but excluding references, and using 10-point type on 12-point (single-spaced) leading, two-column format, Times Roman, or a similar font, within a text block 7.14'' wide x 9.22'' deep. IEEE Standard template for Latex and Word meet these specifications and can be found at: https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html. Papers not meeting these criteria will be rejected without review, and no deadline extensions will be granted for reformatting. Pages should be numbered, and figures and tables should be legible in black and white, without requiring magnification.
