Call for Workshop Proposals

The ACM/IEEE SEC 2026 conference will be held in Santa Clara, CA, USA on Oct 13-16, 2026. In addition to the main conference technical program, the conference will also host in-person workshops on October 16, 2026.


The goals of each workshop are to explore emerging research topics in edge computing and to provide a forum for authors to present early research results on these topics. We aim to host a limited number of high-quality workshops, with programs primarily composed of contributed, peer-reviewed papers. Workshops are intended to foster discussion of novel ideas in a less formal setting, often with a sharper topical focus than the regular conference sessions. We expect workshop papers to emphasize: (i) early research results, (ii) emerging topics, (iii) novel ideas, and/or (iv) best practices and case studies. In addition to regular papers, workshops may also include demos, posters, panels, or other types of contributions that encourage interaction and community building. All workshops are expected to implement a rigorous peer-review process. After the review phase, the SEC workshop chairs will coordinate with selected workshop organizers to discuss appropriate acceptance rates and final program formats, based on the submission pool and the workshop goals.

We invite proposals from individuals and teams interested in organizing strong workshops co-located with SEC 2026. Workshops may run for a full day (typically four 90-minute sessions) or for a half day (typically two 90-minute sessions). Key dates for submissions, notifications, camera-ready deadlines, and session times will be coordinated across all selected workshops to ensure consistent timelines and smooth proceedings production. Tentative dates for workshop paper submission, notification, and camera-ready deadlines will be announced after workshop selection. Accepted workshop papers will be submitted for inclusion in the workshop proceedings and standard abstracting and indexing services, consistent with SEC workshop publication practice.

The workshop proposal should be submitted as a single PDF file, formatted on letter-size or A4-size pages, with a minimum font size of 10 pt. The proposal should include the following information, presented in the order listed below:

  1. Title of the workshop;
  2. Names and affiliations of the organizing team.

Introduction

  1. Scope and topics of the workshop.

Rationale

  1. Rationale:
  • a. Why the workshop is relevant to the SEC community;
  • b. Why the topic is timely and important;
  • c. Why the workshop may attract a significant number of submissions of good quality;
  • d. Why the workshop may attract a large number of attendees, in addition to the authors, and any proposed plans for attracting attendees.

Workshop Details

  1. Tentative committee lists (organizers, steering committee if any, etc.);
  2. A draft call for papers;
  3. Workshop tentative internal and external schedule (expect adjustments by the workshop chairs to align all workshop schedules):
  • a. Submission deadline: June 25, 2026;
  • b. Review deadline (to be proposed by each workshop organizer);
  • c. Acceptance deadline: August 15, 2026;
  • d. Camera ready: August 22, 2026;
  • e. Program ready (set by SEC and IEEE Production Team): September 15, 2026.
